Lincoln City competed well and should go on to achieve league status

The FA Cup run has been incredible and they managed to get to the last eight of the competition on merit, with excellent victories over Ipswich Town, Brighton and Hove Albion and Burnley. However, this was always going to be one step too far for them as they came up against one of the best sides in the country. They will be pleased with their first half performance as they did well and came close to taking the lead through Nathan Arnold. Although they lost convincingly, they should leave North London with their heads held high.

Their focus now will be on securing promotion back to the Football League and they are in a good position to do so. They are currently top of the National League and are five points clear with two matches in hand on Dagenham and Redbridge in second place. On the evidence of their cup run, Lincoln have everything in place to become established in the Football League over the coming years.
