Liverpool picked up yet another win in the Premier League, this time thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Reds have had one hand on the title for a number of weeks now, but they still had to get the results to avoid Arsenal embarrassing them.

Arne Slot’s men have done just that, even though they haven’t quite been at their best in most of their recent games in the top flight.

It was the same against Leicester City on Sunday, and Alexander-Arnold saved the day with a lovely strike with his weaker left foot.

Alexander-Arnold has been at Liverpool all his life.

The Englishman is a local boy and has been a fan of the club since he was a kid. It was always his dream to play for the Reds and win it all, and he has done it.

But, in recent months, many fans have turned on Alexander-Arnold because he’s set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk signing new deals has made the right-back even more of a villain among some supporters, but the celebrations after his goal showed that the fans still have a lot of love for him.

Slot was delighted to see Alexander-Arnold score the winner against Leicester, and he made it clear that nobody can question the defender’s commitment to Liverpool.

He said, as per Liverpool’s official website: “The headline should be today the goal he scored and not about his contract.

“But what I can say is it would be ridiculous if someone argues his commitment for this club because the work-rate he put in to be back today and make such an important goal, and all the work he has done for this club in all these years he is here, no-one – in my opinion – can argue his commitment to this club.

“But let the headlines be [about] his great goal and not his contract situation.”

What Trent Alexander-Arnold said about his future after scoring against Leicester

Liverpool found themselves in a terrible position after they allowed three of their best players to enter the final year of their contracts.

Gary Neville claimed Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold are worth £250 million – losing players of that value for nothing would’ve been disastrous.

Thankfully for Reds fans, Liverpool have secured the futures of Van Dijk and Salah, but all signs point towards Alexander-Arnold leaving the club for free.

But, the defender refused to say anything about his contract after scoring the winner against the Foxes on Sunday.

“I said all season I’m not going to speak on my situation or comment on details, but days like today are special,” he said after the game.

“Scoring goals, winning games, being close to winning titles. Special moments that will live with me forever.”
