Arne Slot has issued an injury update on Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, and Alexander Isak ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Aston Villa this weekend.
Liverpool face a tough test against Unai Emery’s side and will be looking for their first win in six games after a torrid run in the Premier League.
Slot’s side have been hit by injuries, including to key players Ryan Gravenberch, Alexander Isak, and Curtis Jones.
Ryan Gravenberch, Alexander Isak and Curtis Jones injury update
Speaking on Friday morning ahead of the Villa clash, Slot gave a positive update on Gravenberch but stated that he’s “99.9% sure” Isak and Jones won’t feature due to being sidelined from training.
He said: “Ryan Gravenberch trained with Liverpool yesterday and could be involved against Aston Villa. Alexander Isak and Curtis Jones did not, and are 99 per cent not in the squad.”
Gravenberch has been a major miss for Liverpool, so this is a very positive update.
Hugo Ekitike will likely be given a chance to lead the line in Isak’s absence, which, given this season’s form, could also see the tide turn.
Will the Reds’ fortunes change against Aston Villa? Slot is hopeful and believes his side will start scoring goals again.
He continues: “I am happy with the team, the quality we have, and convinced by the strategy and policy we have. But that makes it the issue, not all of them had a proper pre-season or have been injured.
“So when three or four are injured, you go back to 15 or 16. I am convinced 20 is enough, but we are struggling to keep them fit for obvious reasons.
“The thing that gives me the most confidence is the quality of the players we have and the amount of chances they are creating. This will lead to these players scoring more goals than we have done.”
