Liverpool’s summer transfer window has certainly been a frustrating one with the Reds now the only side not to have signed a player.

Having finished third last season, the 2024/25 campaign is going to provide a lot of uncertainties with a new manager in the dugout.

Arne Slot has now had time to settle in around Anfield this summer but the Dutchman is yet to see his squad added to.

Of course, there has been one major blow in recent hours with Martin Zubimendi rejecting a potential move to Liverpool this summer.

And that has seen a real dilemma land at Slot’s door with Liverpool only have a couple of weeks to finalise any deals in the market.

Arne Slot ready to provide ‘incredible’ Liverpool player opportunity

Liverpool’s summer has been hanging on to the potential arrival of the Real Sociedad midfielder over recent days.

It has been a frustrating few weeks for Liverpool supporters who have wanted to see their side added to ahead of this weekend’s season opener.

But it seems as if there is going to be a need for players from inside the club to really step up with no new faces having been added in the market.

According to GiveMeSport, Slot is now ready to provide Wataru Endo with an opportunity to prove himself in the number six role.

This comes following Zubimendi’s proposed move to Anfield collapsed on Monday evening.

A decision has been made within Anfield to promote one of their current players now instead of going back into the market having failed to land their outstanding target.

It has become very much apparent that the Reds had put all of their eggs in Zubimendi’s basket.

Liverpool were prepared to sell Wataru Endo this summer

Jamie Carragher has already admitted he expected to see Liverpool sell Endo this summer having struggled at times.

As per the report, Endo has received interest from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille this summer but now looks set to hang around at Anfield for another season.

The Japanese midfielder is said to be keen on proving his worth at Liverpool and now looks set to take on a big role going into the new season.

He may have been hailed ‘incredible‘ in the past, but it seems as if Endo has a lot still to prove if Carragher’s opinion is anything to go by.

Not looking at other options other than Zubimendi is certainly a bold call by the Liverpool chiefs and it is one which will be quickly ridiculed by the fans if it does not work out.
