Arnaut Danjuma makes intriguing Leeds claim
Arnaut Danjuma has told Voetbal International in the Netherlands that he has outgrown Bournemouth and suggested that he would love to join a club like Leeds United.
Danjuma looks to be one of the most exciting talents playing outside of the Premier League.
The 24-year-old scored 17 goals as the Cherries reached the semi-finals of the play-offs last season. He also provided seven assists.
Unfortunately, Bournemouth were unable to secure an immediate return to the top flight. And it now appears that they may face a fight to keep Danjuma over the coming months.
The Dutchman suggested that he is ready to move to a higher level. And interestingly, he picked out a team that would potentially be ideal.
“I have outgrown the Championship,” he told Voetbal International.
“A club like Leeds would be a great step.”
Could Danjuma comments spark Leeds into action?
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Danjuma is not currently a target for Victor Orta. But it is noted that the Whites are looking for a new winger this summer.
Danjuma may well be a player that plenty of Leeds fans would like signed. He can play on either wing, up front or in a more central attacking midfield role.
Admittedly, he did not have the best time in the Premier League previously. He failed to score or provide an assist in the year the Cherries were relegated.
But he is still a young player. He only turned 24 this year. So there is time for his game to develop and grow.
Having said that, Bournemouth are unlikely to let him go on the cheap. His contract is set to run until 2024, so they are under little pressure to sell.
So perhaps it should come as little surprise if he does not get the Elland Road move he craves.
What will be interesting to see is whether the Whites act upon hearing his comments.
