Celtic have reportedly seen a bid to sign Troy Parrott on loan from Tottenham Hotspur rejected by the player himself, with the striker set to join Millwall – but have Spurs missed a glaring chance to sign a reported target?
The 18-year-old striker was the subject of loan offers from English clubs Preston North End, Swansea City, AFC Bournemouth and Stoke City as well as Scottish champions Celtic. But it is believed Parrott will join Millwall.
The Irish Independent state as much, with Celtic missing out in a move for Parrott. The Ireland international is believed to have chosen Millwall after talks with Lions boss Gary Rowett. It sees him follow Harry Kane’s footsteps.
But have Tottenham missed an opportunity, in ordering Parrott to join Celtic? Meanwhile, north of the border, Odsonne Edouard continues to prove – match after match – that he is the best player in Scottish football.
Such form has seen the Sunday Times claim that Spurs are interested in £30million-rated (Record) Edouard, with Spurs sending scouts to watch the former Paris Saint-Germain striker in action on numerous occasions.
With Spurs in need of a striker that could add not only cover for England skipper Kane, but one that could compete with the Tottenham icon – Edouard is the perfect striker, given he is still young and boasting enormous quality.
So, surely Spurs should have convinced Parrott to join Celtic on loan – and use a loan deal for the teenager to sweeten a deal that would see Edouard move south? Instead, they may have missed a glaring chance to sign the French star.
