Are these three stars Liverpool's alternatives to Mario Götze? feat. Dortmund wizard
Seemingly ever since Jurgen Klopp took charge at Anfield, Liverpool have been rumoured with signing Mario Götze. The German superstar is currently at the Bavarian behemoths of Bayern Munich, but he was once of course the star man of Klopp’s former Borussia Dortmund team and the two clearly have a strong relationship.
Working in a fabulous triumvirate which included Robert Lewandowski and Marco Reus in addition to Götze, the diminutive German really built his reputation as one of the finest attacking midfielders in the world, and still has the potential to become better still.
In Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, and Adam Lallana, Liverpool certainly do not have a shortage of top-class performers in attacking midfield. However, Mario Götze would strengthen almost any side in world football and if he is indeed available for a fairly small figure of £20 million, then any club with the available capital would surely be interested in acquiring the services of the man who scored Germany’s winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final.
Although there seems to be a desire for the move to go through from both parties; and indeed members of the current Liverpool squad, there is certainly the possibility that one of the remaining road-blocks will be fatal for the transfer. Should this indeed happen, who should Liverpool turn to as an alternative? Read the next few pages to discover three options for The Reds in this scenario, and leave your thoughts on them in the comments section below.
