Ryan Bertrand
Ryan Bertrand’s career has seen somewhat of a revival after his move to Southampton at the start of last season. Prior to his move to the south coast, the Chelsea academy product had only two international caps to his name but since he linked up with Ronald Koeman, the 26-year-old has made an additional five caps for his country. The Champions League winner probably would have featured this international period if it wasn’t for the injury that forced him to pull out.
Bertrand has shown his defensive solidity and consistency this season after chopping and changing between being a full-back and a centre-half for the Saints. Bertrand has the attacking threat that is demanded of a modern day full-back, but is also arguably the best English left-back in a defensive sense. It has to be said that on this season’s form, Bertrand would join Danny Rose in being hot favourites to be vying for a starting spot in the Euros.
