Harry Arter – Bournemouth
Harry Arter has enjoyed another fine campaign in the Bournemouth midfield and has been a beacon of consistency in a season that showed so much promise along the way for the Cherries. The Irish midfielder has started 26 times in his 27 Premier League appearances, scoring just once in the process, but forming a formidable partnership with his teammates, especially Jack Wilshere, who arrived on loan from Arsenal at the end of the summer transfer window.
Arter has been a rock in front of the Bournemouth back, performing his role as a defensive midfielder perfectly for Eddie Howe’s side. The 27-year-old has eased the burden for the defence, with his 45 tackles and 12 blocks being one of the best records for any midfielder in England’s top division and has barely put a foot wrong all season.
In addition to that, he’s also been influential in attack whenever he’s deployed in a more advanced midfield role, creating 21 chances for his teammates and playing a part in three goals – a figure that would surely be greater if he gets more opportunities higher up the pitch.
He’s even toned down on his brash reputation of lunging into challenges and has worked immensely on improving his ability over the course of the campaign. Bournemouth have had a season that started off well, but their form has slowly fizzled out since the turn of the year. Nonetheless, with Arter’s presence and leadership capabilities, they are sure to bounce back in the coming weeks.
