Eliaquim Mangala
When Pep Guardiola comes to the blue half of Manchester next season, Mangala should be one of the first players he moves on. As the most expensive defender in the history of the Premier League, he should be doing so much better than his recently abysmal displays indicate. Whenever he has to replace Vincent Kompany, he has been a liability. He is regularly caught out of position, makes rash decisions that cost the team and he is not up to the levels expected in the Premier League.
During a player’s first season at the summit of English football, there is always the excuse that they struggle with the physicality of the league and will improve the following season. This has not been the case for Mangala; who is up there with the best in terms of raw physical attributes, and Guardiola may not be as patient and forgiving as Pellegrini has been with the Frenchman. If Vincent Kompany is kept on by the incumbent Spanish coach, then he will surely desire a supremely reliable back-up, and it does not appear as though Mangala will be able to fulfil those desires.
