The Portuguese winger was quite the enigma whilst he played at West Ham. He was slow, old and inconsistent but still managed to get chosen for his side on a regular basis – making no less than 91 appearences. Boa Morte joined the Hammers from Fulham whilst he was slowly making his decline towards an inevitable retirement and brought with him a lack of creativity and goals – he scored once for West Ham against Manchester City in 2010, hardly a great record for a winger. One has to admire his persistence however and also West Ham’s refusal to bring in a decent winger during his four-season-long stint with the side. Two years after he left West Ham, he dropped to playing in the 12th tier of English football – oh how the mighty fall…
