Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Eden Hazard’s form this season has been bitterly disappointing. The 2014/15 PFA Player of the Year; and the main reason for Chelsea’s title-winning campaign, has not lived up to expectations in 2015/16.
It is fair to say that it has not all been his fault, what with the niggling injuries he suffered and Jose Mourinho’s time at Chelsea coming to an end yet again. However, this is no excuse.
Hazard was Chelsea’s key man but they have not been able to rely on him at all this season. His brace against Bournemouth in April was the first time he had hit the back of the net this term and even though he went on to add two more and also finished the season with three assists, this was just not good enough for a player who set the league alight in 2014/15 with his trickery, pace and exceptional eye for goals.
The Belgian forward did score a crucial goal against Spurs which made Leicester this season’s Premier League champions, but when the next campaign starts in a few months, he will need to perform much better; along with the rest of his team-mates, to get Chelsea back to winning ways, instead of helping other teams win the Premier League.
The former Lille superstar is a fantastic player and his return to form is sure to be evident at Euro 2016. The sooner he regains this form, the better for him and for Chelsea.
