Whilst the 2015/16 Premier League season has been fantastic and produced some unlikely heroes, there have been a fair few players who have had disappointing seasons for their respective clubs and need to improve when the 2016/17 season comes around in August. As such, the next few pages give arguably the prime examples of three players who fall into that category.

Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion)

Saido Berahino has not been the same since the failed bids from Tottenham Hotspur last summer and even though he has since apologised, his tweet after failing to force through the move he desired certainly didn’t help matters.

In terms of goal-scoring and appearances for the club, this has been Saido’s worst season at West Brom. The Burundi-born striker has scored just four times this season, compared to the 14 he scored in the previous campaign and has clearly fallen out of favour with Tony Pulis.

When Berahino has started, his performances have rarely justified his selection. In West Brom’s game against Watford in April for example, Berahino became just the fourth player to miss two penalties in a Premier League match as Watford hung on to win the match 1-0. The 22-year-old had converted all five of his spot-kicks in the Premier League for West Brom before that match. This highlights how low Berahino is on confidence and how badly it is affecting his game.

Even when he scored four goals against Gateshead in the FA Cup third round, the pacey front-man was in no mood to celebrate. It seems best for concerned that he leaves the Hawthorns and moves onto pastures new this summer.

His transfer saga has definitely cast a shadow over him at West Brom and while Tottenham are apparently still pursuing him, the Baggies should cash in on the youngster and put this sorry affair behind them.
