Are Everton’s hopes of signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot over? – TBR View

Everton were keen on signing midfelder Adrien Rabiot throughout the summer, as Carlo Ancelotti was linked with a host of big name players.

The Toffees eventually settled on the likes of James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure, while Allan arrived from Napoli, too.

However, the talk of Rabiot was ongoing for some time, and Calciomercato claimed as recently as last week that Everton still maintained an interest in the French midfield star.

Certainly, there was even talk of potentially trying to send Moise Kean back to Juve for Rabiot among some Toffees fans. The Italian club wanted a buy-back clause then they sold Kean to Everton initially, so could well be open to having the striker back.

But regardless of if that is an option, are Everton’s hopes of landing Rabiot beginning to fade? It certainly looks that way if Juventus’ recent selection decisions are anything to go by.

Back in the fold

After being something of an outcast last year, Rabiot seems to be being given his chance to shine this term.

He started the opening two games, before seeing red in the second Serie A game of the season against Roma. However, he missed just the one game before returning from the bench against Crotone, before being thrust back into the starting XI for 90 minutes in the win over Dinamo Kiev last night.

It would appear, then, that Everton are seeing their hopes dwindle if they do want to land Rabiot.

There’s never been a question over his talent, he’s just simply not took off since moving to Juve from PSG. But with a run of games and a manager now seemingly putting his trust in him, Rabiot’s time might have come.

Sadly, for the Toffees and Mr Ancelotti, it will probably end any hopes of a move to Goodison for the midfielder.
