Tottenham Hotspur are looking to replace Ange Postecoglou and have spoken to a candidate who could be great for Archie Gray’s future at the club.

Despite helping Tottenham Hotspur to win their first major trophy in 17 years, Daniel Levy could sack Ange Postecoglou following what was a shocking Premier League campaign.

The decision on Postecoglou’s future is expected to arrive this week, with the club’s supporters keen to have some clarity over who will be the manager next season.

The North London club have been speaking to potential replacements over recent weeks and one of the leading contenders could be the perfect man to help mould Gray into a top midfielder.

Thomas Frank tried to sign Archie Gray before he joined Tottenham

As revealed by TBR Football, Tottenham have held talks with Thomas Frank about becoming the next manager of the football club and he is now believed to be the leading contender.

This could be great news for Archie Gray as the Danish manager attempted to sign the teenager for Brentford before his move to Tottenham.

Gray had a medical at Brentford and agreed personal terms before changing his mind over a move to West London and instead he opted to travel across the capital to sign for Spurs.

Frank, who’s been called a ‘genius’, was eager to bring him to the West London club and even submitted a club-record offer of £40m in an attempt to get him from Leeds United.

Whilst Gray will be delighted with how much game time he got under Postecoglou last season, there is a sense that he’d prefer to be playing in midfield.

The 19-year-old featured in the middle of the park on just seven occasions last term, the role in which Spurs initially signed him to play.

Given the efforts that Frank went to in order to try and bring the player to the G-Tech Stadium last summer, he might be up for trusting him in the midfield.

What Archie Gray has said about Ange Postecoglou

However, Gray also remains a big supporter of Postecoglou having thanked the Australian for trusting him so much last season.

Gray told Tottenham Hotspur on YouTube: “I’ve said it before, I’m just extremely grateful for every minute he’s put me on the pitch.

“I don’t care where I play, for how long I play, I’m 19 years old, so I’m just extremely grateful for him trusting me and putting me on the pitch.”

The feeling is reciprocated, as Postecoglou hailed Gray earlier this year by admitting that he’d be gutted not to be coaching him in two or three years’ time.
