Apparent Leeds United transfer target has bought a house and is clearly happy where he is

Leeds United have recently been linked with a move for Reading midfield general Andy Rinomhota.

Reading boss Mark Bowen added fuel to that flame last week, telling Get Reading about the Whites’ interest.

“He has come up through our academy and has established himself now with teams like Leeds talking about him.

“But I don’t care about that, it’s what he does for us and hopefully he’s fit and available for selection on Saturday again.”

But the player’s comments from last month would suggest he is not currently pursuing an exit from the Madejski Stadium.

The midfielder, who was born in Leeds but is a Manchester United fan and was raised in Hampshire, spoke to the Reading FC website last month about his rise from non-league football.

Reading signed the youngster from his boyhood club AFC Portchester in 2015 and he has slowly made himself a permanent figure in the first-team in Berkshire.

As he revealed in his interview with the club website, he has just bought a new house in the Reading area as he plans for a long stay with the Royals.

“Outside football, things haven’t changed much. I’m still living with Easty [Reading midfielder Ryan East’s family], I’ve bought a house but it’s just in the final steps of going through. I’d hoped to be in by the end of October, but that didn’t happen and now they’re saying hopefully midway through November.

“That is a big step for me. I’ve wanted to do it for a while, and I was at Easty’s for longer than I was anticipating. With football, you never know where you’re going to be, so that was going to be ‘safer’ rather than renting or buying. But now I’m more cemented in the team and here for the long-term, so it’s a good investment and more security.

“It means you’re committing your future even more, the club’s buying into you and you’re settling down at the club, so it’s a smoother transition.”

So it would seem that the 22-year-old is happy where he is at the moment and is preparing to stick around at the club for the foreseeable future.

Of course, respective promotions and relegations could change his mind over a move to Leeds United, but his comments last month certainly suggest he won’t be begging for a West Yorkshire return.
