Tottenham pulled off a fine win at Leeds this weekend as the players came roaring back to ease some of the minor pressure Antonio Conte might have been feeling.
A shocking performance and 1-0 loss at Burnley in midweek had put both Tottenham and Conte in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. But a comeback performance at Elland Road put any long-term worries to bed and Conte is now preparing his team to face Middlesbrough in the cup tomorrow.

Among the players to impress Conte at the weekend was Matt Doherty. The Irishman hasn’t always been a regular since signing for around £15m in 2020. However, he got on the scoresheet at Leeds and put in a fine performance overall. And Conte has been singing his praises today.
“Doherty is another player that is improved. He has worked a lot. I like him because if he plays or if he doesn’t play he is committed and his attitude is always at the top. He understood that he can have an important part of this team. With Emerson on the right, but Doherty can also play on the left,” Conte told Football.London.
“I was pleased to see him at this level, also Ryan Sessegnon. Now we have recovered Sergio Reguilon. We are improving, we are working hard, when there are defeats we have to learn and continue to improve in many aspects.”
TBR’s View: Doherty Proving A Point At Tottenham
It’s not as if Doherty became a bad player over night. He’s just been the victim of some poor team performances in general, as well as the instability of changes in management.
Doherty’s performance this weekend was a bonus for Spurs. As Conte says, his versatility is a big plus for the squad and his experience can also help some of the younger Tottenham players.
It’s clear that Conte is getting a reaction from a lot of his players. And Doherty, it seems, is one who is leaving an impression on the Italian.
