Antonio Conte admitted in his press conference this week that Yves Bissouma is not quite up to speed in terms of tactics at Tottenham.
Bissouma signed from Brighton in the summer and has been featuring off the bench more often than not, although he did play 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw at West Ham. Certainly, both Bissouma and Conte will be hoping for some elements of improvement in the coming weeks after the international break is done with.

And speaking before this weekend’s game with Leicester City, Conte mentioned Bissouma again and admitted he is a player whose development he is trying to ‘accelerate’.
“With Bissouma we are trying to accelerate this process, but for sure when you arrive in a team well organised with an idea of football, you need a bit of time to go into this idea of football, but I think that in the next 12 games I have at least three players that I can count on much more in the way that I did in these seven games,” Conte told Football London.
Bissouma was a key player for Brighton but now with Spurs, he faces more competition in the middle of the park, with the likes of Oliver Skipp also set to return shortly.
TBR’s View: Bissouma Deserves Time At Tottenham
Bissouma proved himself at Brighton and while it is a slight step up in terms of expectation and pressure, the midfielder is definitely good enough to make that step.
For now, it’s a case of Bissouma doing his best and taking onboard the things Conte wants from him. He has a brilliant manager to learn from, and Conte will do his best to ensure he does indeed get the very best from Bissouma.
It might take time, but Tottenham fans can be confident they’ll see the Bissouma of Brighton down the line.
