Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has claimed that he wants Spurs to hand Harry Kane a brand new contract soon.
The Englishman now looks settled at Spurs after his huge transfer saga last year. Kane was desperate to leave 12 months ago, but things have changed following Conte’s arrival.
Antonio Conte says he’s forcing Tottenham board to extend Harry Kane’s contract
After everything that happened last summer, Kane had a poor start to the season. He looked nothing like himself under Nuno Espirito Santo, but once Conte took charge of the club, everything changed.
Kane has looked better than ever before, and he’s one of the biggest reasons why Spurs pipped Arsenal to the final Champions League spot last season.
Now, it’s time for Tottenham to sort his future out, and Conte has revealed that he’s ‘trying to force’ the Spurs board to get it done as quickly as possible.
The Italian said in his press conference, as quoted by The Mail+: “My opinion is only one of a million, trying to force the club, tell the club “sign a new contract for Harry Kane”.
“I would like Harry to sign a new contract. We are talking about a world-class striker. It is very important to see him happy, totally involved with this season, totally involved in this project and in what we are doing.
“For me, this is the most important thing. It is the perfect time.”

TBR View:
Kane has entered the final two years of his contract at Tottenham. The 29-year-old is undoubtedly their best player, which is why Conte is desperate to secure his future.
The good news for Spurs fans is that the Englishman’s mindset is nothing like what it was last year.
Kane was desperate to leave, with Manchester City really keen to sign him. A deal even looked imminent at one point, but Daniel Levy rejected every offer and kept hold of his star man in the end.
It is extremely unlikely that City will come back in for Kane next summer, but other clubs could. If Tottenham let the striker enter the final year of his contract, they will leave themselves in a very vulnerable position, which is why they need to extend his deal as soon as possible.
