Antonio Conte says another injured Tottenham player is now fit to face Manchester City
Bissouma was only fit enough to play the last 15 minutes of Sunday’s 2-0 home north London derby defeat against Arsenal.
Pape Matar Sarr started the game, but Bissouma came on for the youngster but Spurs were unable to turn the tide of the game.
Sarr’s selection was perhaps a surprise but Conte suggested that Bissouma had not been fully fit and that is why he did not start.
Conte says Bissouma is now fully recovered from his injury
Speaking to Spurs Play about Bissouma ahead of the trip to the Etihad Stadium, Conte said: “He had a training session.
“He trained the whole session. I think he has recovered in the last few days.”
It remains to be seen which changes Conte makes to the side which was comprehensively outplayed on Sunday for the trip to the reigning champions.
Spurs actually did the double over City last season, with their counter-attacking style theoretically perfectly suited to catching Pep Guardiola’s men cold.
City are not in their best moment, but Spurs are also far from theirs, with far too few convincing performances this season, either side of the World Cup.
Perhaps Bissouma will be fit to play a part, and Conte also gave an update on the fitness of Rodrigo Bentancur, saying: “Team news, like I said after the game against Arsenal, Rodrigo Bentancur trained with us.
“He’s available. He could be available for the game against City.”
