Antonio Conte reveals one to one chats with Tottenham players

Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte, has revealed how he has held discussions with every single player in his squad as he tries to build a winning team spirit at the club.

Conte, known for his intense management style and winning mentality, is trying to bring together a Tottenham squad that was woefully out of sorts under Nuno Santo and was rocked by the constant speculation surrounding Harry Kane in the summer.

So far, Conte’s methods have been well-received. The start on the pitch has been decent enough, too. And speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash with Leeds, the Italian revealed he has taken the time to speak to every player.

“It happened and especially when you arrive at a new club to speak to all of the players. Then you try to take a moment to have one to one with the players, to know them in every aspect, not only through the football aspect,” Conte told Football.London.

“I think it’s good. They have to know me and I have to know them. I have found players with a great will to work and a great will to improve, to try to do something special for this club.”

Conte will be hoping to get off to winning start at home in the Premier League against Bielsa’s Leeds. Tottenham have an in-form Harry Kane to turn to as well, following his seven goals for England last week.

TBR’s View: Conte taking the right steps with Tottenham squad

The fact a few managers have tried and failed to get over the line with this Tottenham squad suggests Conte has his work cut out. But in taking the time to speak to them all, he’s making a good move.

From this, Conte will be able to know who’s fully on board with his methods, and who might need to be weeded out. It’s a good strategy, and good for Conte to show a personal side, too.

Come January, there’s no doubt we’ll know who Conte wants and doesn’t want in North London.
