Antonio Conte has put Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Alfie Dorrington into first-team training – and the youngster made a brilliant tackle on Matt Doherty yesterday.

The Spurs players who didn’t travel to Qatar for the World Cup are now being put through their paces by Conte at Hotspur Way once again.

Some important first-team players have remained in north London, including the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Emerson Royal, Clement Lenglet and Doherty.

But a big part of the group is currently made up of youngsters while Spurs’ biggest stars are on international duty.

It’s a good chance for some of Tottenham’s prospects to impress Conte and one player that may have done just that is Dorrington.

Dorrington tackle on Doherty

Conte’s squad can be spotted on Tottenham’s YouTube channel undergoing a training session yesterday.

Dorrington was amongst the group and the 17-year-old put in a brilliant challenge on Doherty during the session.

The squad were involved in a mini-game and Doherty was played down the right-hand side. But the young centre-back matches the Irishman for pace and snuffs out the danger with a well-timed sliding tackle.

The English youngster is yet to make his debut for Spurs but has racked up 47 appearances for the U18’s side.

Dorrington has also earned three caps for England’s U17 side and is clearly impressing in training.

His tackle on Doherty drew praise from his teammates and he will be hoping to benefit from working alongside Spurs’ senior players.

Football.London reports that Tottenham are set to play in two friendly matches during the World Cup break as Conte prepares his players for the return of the Premier League.

They will face-off against Scottish outfit Motherwell behind closed doors at Hotspur Way this Friday, before a home match in-front of the fans against Nice on December 21.

Dorrington will be hoping to get a chance to impress Conte in the upcoming friendlies while many players are at the World Cup.
