Antonio Conte has previously hailed 'complete player', now he's reportedly close to Arsenal move
Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Alvaro Morata.
Spanish outlet Sport have claimed that the Gunners are edging towards a £25million deal for the 29-year-old.
Arsenal are in need of bolstering their attacking ranks this summer.
Admittedly, Eddie Nketiah is apparently signing a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Assuming Alexandre Lacazette leaves in summer, this would leave one senior striker at Arsenal.
Plenty of centre-forwards have been linked with the Gunners in recent months.
The likes of Gabriel Jesus, Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez are apparently potential targets.
Morata has as well, but now, if the Sport report is accurate, then Arsenal may be about to sign him.
The Atletico Madrid forward is coming towards the end of a two-year spell on loan at Juventus.
Juve are apparently keen to keep the former Chelsea man beyond this season.
However, the Old Lady are reportedly unwilling to pay the £30million that would trigger the option to keep him.
And with that, Arsenal have seemingly put themselves on pole position.
Links between Gunners and Morata have been met with a mixed reaction.
However, the Spaniard seems to tick a lot of boxes for Mikel Arteta.
He has experience at the highest level, which would benefit an Arsenal frontline featuring numerous players under 23.
“He’s a good finisher”
Morata is also a selfless player who plays a key role in getting the midfield and attack ticking.
In addition, he can play both at centre-forward and on the left flank, two position Arsenal need to bolster.
And he comes with a seal of approval from Antonio Conte.
The Italian was full of praise for the striker back in 2017, when the two worked together at Chelsea.
“He is a good player, he is a complete player, technically strong, a good leader, and he has a lot of room for improvement,” Conte told ESPN.
“He is a complete player but also he has a lot of room to improve in every situation: in tactical, physical, technical aspects.
“He’s very committed, his behaviour is always fantastic. He is a very polite player. I like this.
“Also I like he’s a good finisher, he feels the goal in every moment.
“He’s very good at understanding which is the best position in the box to receive the ball, to understand where the ball is going.”
