Antonio Conte has given his Tottenham Hotspur squad a day off after beating Marseille in the Champions League last night.

It was a tough, nervy night for Spurs but they got the job done and went through their group as winners after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s late, late goal.

Conte had to watch the game from the stands after a red card on matchday five against Sporting, but his side came from behind to win.

Conte gives Tottenham squad the day off

Journalist Jonathan Veal has tweeted that the squad has been given the day off to recover and celebrate the vital victory.

But Heung-min Son has had to have further tests on the injury which forced him off in the first half of last night’s game, with the score at 0-0.

Tottenham do not play again now until Sunday, when they host Liverpool, who also won in the Champions League last night.

They will be hoping that Son is back fit for that game as they look to continue their momentum after two consecutive comeback wins.

Neither Liverpool or Spurs have been starting games especially well this season, so it will be interesting to see how Sunday’s clash goes.

Having Son fit would go some way to helping Spurs get the result and Conte will hope his players have been invigorated by the reward of a day off.
