Antonio Conte discusses January with Tottenham expected to make signings

Antonio Conte has told his pre-Everton press conference – as per Football London – that it is too soon to specify January targets ahead of the window.

Conte, 52, has joined Tottenham, penning an 18-month contract at Spurs with a view to extending that deal by a further 12 months in the future.

Having rejected a move to Tottenham in the summer, it is widely-believed that Spurs will only have been able to bring in Conte by promising money.

The January window is now less than two months away, and Conte will be surely looking to add a couple of signings. He spoke on Friday afternoon.

He was asked about January, and Conte stated it is a bit early to discuss areas in which he, and Fabio Paratici will look to improve the club.

“Now, to say we have a specific target is not simple. I think the club is the same. Paratici knows very well this is the situation,” Conte said.

“It’s not good, not fair to say we want to do this or reach this. At the moment we’re starting to work together and think that we need to improve.”

Conte on January: Where do Tottenham need to strengthen?

Conte will want to play a back three and bringing in a left-sided centre-back is likely to be at the top of his agenda. Alessio Romagnoli has been linked.

Ben Davies played there on Thursday and he was solid, albeit against a mediocre Vitesse side. Another central midfielder is also expected.

Oliver Skipp is good, but should not be first choice right now. A permanent right winger too, with Lucas Moura somewhat inconsistent at times.

Sorting out a goalkeeper is also likely to be a concern with Hugo Lloris out of contract in June – and back-up to Harry Kane. Plenty of work to be done.
