Antonio Conte has told his post-match press conference – as per Football London – that it will be “nice and good” for his Tottenham side to face Chelsea. The two London sides will go head to head in the Carabap Cup semi-finals.

Chelsea and Tottenham both booked their place in the last four of the competition, alongside Liverpool and Arsenal, on Wednesday night. Chelsea were comprehensive in their 2-0 away win over another London side, Brentford.

While it took until the 80th minute when Pontus Jansson scored an own goal, a second through Jorginho on 85, Chelsea were dominant. It was a whole lot closer in North London, as West Ham gave it a real go against Spurs.

That is, despite the Hammers being rocked pre-match – as Michail Antonio was ruled out with a positive Covid result. Jarrod Bowen played up top and while he scored, he did not have the same impact as the Jamaica international.

Steven Bergwijn was an unlikely hero – scoring one and creating another as Spurs beat West Ham, with Lucas Moura getting the winner. Asked about a tie with his old side, Conte said he will look forward to the clash.

“Maybe if I was to decide it would be just one leg mainly because of the situation we’re living. It will be nice and good to play Chelsea. I enjoyed a good time at Chelsea and enjoyed my time there, but now I’m at Tottenham.”

Conte on Chelsea tie: Can Tottenham beat Blues and match last season?

Of course, last season, Spurs reached the final of the competition before eventually losing to Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side have been knocked out, but the four teams that remain are all top-six sides.

Chelsea and Liverpool are certainly expected to finish in the top three, and both Spurs and Arsenal will fight it out for fourth. Can Tottenham beat Chelsea? Well, the Blues are not functioning at 100% right now.

The two semi-finals will take place in the weeks commencing January 3 and January 10,. The final is on February 27.
