Antonio Conte could now unleash ‘unbelievable’ 22-year-old on Saturday after Tottenham player’s ‘awful’ display - TBR View

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte could now look to unleash Djed Spence on Saturday after Emerson Royal’s ‘awful’ Champions League display.

Spurs were disappointing last night as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sporting Lisbon.

Conte’s men lacked cutting edge when going forward and shipped two late goals in the final moments of the game.

Ivan Perisic put in a ‘classy’ display from left wing-back but it was a different story for Emerson Royal.

90 Min slammed the Brazilian due to some ‘awful defending’ for Sporting’s second goal

And after a poor display, Conte could look to hand the ‘unbelievable’ Spence his first Spurs start against Leicester this weekend.

Conte could now unleash ‘unbelievable’ Spence

Emerson seems to be Conte’s first-choice at this moment in time but that could soon change after last night.

The Brazilian has often been reliable defensively but has failed to offer a threat going forward for Spurs.

And it may be the right time for Conte to give Spence a chance to help provide more attacking threat down the right flank.

The former Forest man was brilliant for Steve Cooper’s men in the Championship last season.

The 22-year-old showed he has great attributes such as his pace, strength and engine.

Spence provided three goals and five assists from the wing-back position and put in some brilliant displays in the FA Cup.

And it was in this competition that Spence actually scored against Spurs’ opponents this weekend in Leicester.

Conte may need to try something different as his side are lacking real quality in the right wing-back position.

Spence has made just one appearance under Conte so far, which came as a substitute in the final minutes against his former side Forest.

The Italian does have the option of playing Matt Doherty, who performed superbly for a spell last season.

Conte did label Spence a ‘club signing’ last month but in our view, he should look to unleash the player against Leicester and give him a chance to impress.

The wing-back put in eye-catching displays against Premier League opposition last season for Forest and could surprise Conte if given the opportunity.
