Anton Ferdinand singled out West Ham’s summer signing Said Benrahma for big praise following his latest performance, adding that he’s a real “maverick” in possession.
The Hammers recorded an eye-catching 2-1 away win against Leeds United on Friday night to continue an impressive start to the Premier League season, with Tomas Soucek and Angelo Ogbonna on the scoresheet to overturn an early deficit.
David Moyes’ side have now picked up 12 points from their last five league fixtures and everything is starting to kick into gear for them.
Said Benrahma was given his first start for West Ham following his arrival from Brentford, making just his fifth appearance for the Irons.
The 25-year-old attacker delivered an excellent individual display in a number 10 creative position, as he was a real handful for opposition midfielder Kalvin Phillips and was very direct whenever on the ball.
Ex-Hammers defender Ferdinand gave a glowing verdict on Twitter on the Algerian trickster following his display:
Oiiiiiiiii benrahma looks like he could be a maverick for us loves the ball at his feet very comfy and loves to make things happening! #COYI

West Ham fans historically love flair players that are brave in possession and love to express themselves on the pitch, which is why Benrahma has all the makings to be a big hit with supporters moving forward at the London Stadium.
Moyes has been hesitant to throw him into side straight away, but surely he deserves a run in the XI now due to the fact he injects that extra bit of attacking intent.
His end product will come with more minutes and more Premier League experience, so he’s certainly a player to keep an eye on this season.
