Anthony Hudson makes Leeds prediction; lauds Marcelo Bielsa

Anthony Hudson has told talkSPORT (broadcast on 13/11; 12:55) that he expects Leeds United to be promoted this season as he lauded Marcelo Bielsa as an unbelievable person.

Bielsa looks set to go down as one of the most popular managers in Leeds’s history. He so nearly guided the club to promotion out of the Championship last season. And he got a side that had previously finished in mid-table to produce an exhilarating brand of football.

That success has carried over into this campaign. Leeds are third in the table. And many feel that the Whites are yet to reach their higher gears so far this term.

Hudson is a well-known admirer of the Argentinian. And the former Bahrain and New Zealand boss explained why he has always been so drawn to Bielsa.

“One thing I love about him, not only is he an unbelievable coach, but what an unbelievable man,” he told talkSPORT. “He has such strong values, principled, does things his own way. I think he’s on a different level when it comes to that.”

From the outside, it does appear to be a must for Leeds to get promoted if Bielsa is going to stay at Elland Road beyond this season.

Given the events of last season, the fans’ nerves are unlikely to subside before they know for definite whether they will be going up or not. But Hudson may have alleviated some of those concerns as he confidently predicted that the Whites will be a Premier League side next year.

“I think they will,” he went on to add, when asked whether he thinks Leeds will be promoted. “After last season, he will have learned a lot. I don’t think he had his strongest team near the end of the season. But I think he will have learned from that and I think they’ll go up this year.”

It is so intriguing to find out how Leeds’s season is going to play out. Last year, they were outstanding in the early stages and struggled to maintain that level as the campaign went on.

It will be interesting to see whether Bielsa’s side’s good start is an indication that they are still struggling to rediscover that initial magic, or whether Leeds are going to peak at the perfect time this time around.
