Anthony Gordon has claimed that there are “no excuses” for him not to pushing for a starting position in the Everton XI in the new season.
The 19-year-old is an exciting attacker to come out of the academy at Goodison Park and he was integrated into the first-team squad fully last season by manager Carlo Ancelotti.
He featured in the final 10 games of the Premier League season and is a rising talent that supporters on Merseyside are extremely excited about.
The Liverpool-born teenager is a skilful winger that has plenty of pace and is technically gifted, which saw him make an impact in the senior group when given the chance to impress.
Gordon has applied pressure on himself going into the new campaign and doesn’t want to be viewed as a youngster anymore.
“I don’t really see myself as a young player anymore. I gave myself that last year but there’s no excuses now for me not to go on and push for a starting place,” Gordon told the Liverpool Echo.

TBR’s View:
It’s easy to get excited around the new signings at Everton that are clearly going to boost their team going into the new season, but Gordon is an academy graduate that clearly has the right attitude and it will be no surprise to see him continuing to improve during the next 12 months.
Despite the fact Gordon is yet to score in his opening 13 senior appearances, he’s shown in glimpses he can add a real threat going forward for Everton and is someone that’s direct with his running.
It’s important that Ancelotti’s side have plenty of young dynamism alongside their experience and Gordon is someone that has the individual ability to push for a regular starting berth.
