Anthony Gordon has posted on Instagram after the winger returned to action with a substitute performance against Leicester on Wednesday, with the Toffees winning 2-0 – and both Jose Baxter and Niels Nkounkou responded.
Gordon, 19, has broken into the Everton side since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti – making his 17th appearance for the senior team against Leicester as a late replacement for Dom Calvert-Lewin.
Everton picked up all three points at the King Power thanks to goals in each half. Richarlison opened the scoring with a drive from 20 yards out, while Mason Holgate made it 2-0 – bundling the ball home from close range.
Gordon had failed to make a Premier League appearance since the end of October but he was clearly delighted to add to his tally of senior outings – underlining his delight on Instagram that Everton have made it back-to-back wins.

Gordon does have plenty of competition ahead of him in the pecking order when it comes to vying for a place in the starting XI. Richarlison, Alex Iwobi, Bernard and James Rodriguez certainly sit above him in the pecking order.
But he is an excellent young talent with enormous potential. Nkounkou suggested as much, commenting one word – “Mbappe”. Jose Baxter, also an Everton academy product, stated it was good to see Gordon back in action.
