Plenty of Everton fans are chomping at the bit to see Anthony Gordon get his chance in the first-team under Marco Silva.
The England under-19 international has been in fine form recently, which continued last night as he scored against PSV in the Premier League International Cup.
With the first-team struggling, Gordon has been a ray of light for many who feel the 18-year-old deserves a chance.
However, he is still yet to find his name in a Marco Silva matchday squad.
The good news for Everton fans who want to see Gordon get his chance, is that he is very close.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Gordon was in the 20-man squad for the EFL Cup tie with Watford.
When it came down to cutting the squad down to 18, Silva reportedly went with Cenk Tosun over Gordon. The report called the decision ‘a toss up’. That decision was made in the dressing room before the game so the teenager is clearly on Silva’s radar.
Despite the rush and clamour to see Gordon in action Silva is right to leave him on the sidelines for the time being.
The teenager clearly has what it takes to become a senior Everton player and with Bernard currently out injured that chance might be just around the corner.
Until then, the 18-year-old and his growing fanbase must remain patient.
