Another game, another woeful performance from Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The Iceland international was handed another start on Sunday by Carlo Ancelotti and, given the Liverpool team Jurgen Klopp put out, the onus was on an experienced head like him to deliver at Anfield.
Sigurdsson is long overdue a good performance in Everton colours, and what better place to have silenced some of the doubters than in a Merseyside Derby at Anfield in the FA Cup.

The £45 million signing (BBC Sport) was supposed to take the bull by the horns for the visitors. Instead, he was something of a helpless matador, strolling around as Liverpool’s youngsters grew and grew in confidence.
He was a total passenger by the time he was hooked on 63 minutes, and he now has an absolute mountain to climb to get back in most Toffees supporters’ good books.
Sigurdsson’s alarming form this season means there is an unquestionable need for fresh impetus in January, and Ancelotti surely has to go all out for a reported transfer target who has something to prove.
TBR’s view – Rodriguez needed
James Rodriguez is something of a surprise target for Everton (Mirror), and any move may be unlikely.

But Everton need to seriously consider trying to bring him to Goodison Park, even if just on loan as has been mooted, with an upturn in form for Sigurdsson looking about as likely as a league title challenge.
Rodriguez has underwhelmed in recent years, but is a player who needs a move and has previously worked with Ancelotti of course.
The South American has something to prove, and Everton fans are likely to massively get behind a fresh face so they no longer have to see Sigurdsson in the starting XI.
