Liverpool recorded yet another Premier League win yesterday by one goal to go 25 points clear at the top of the table.
Jurgen Klopp’s men fought back from one down against a dogged Bournemouth side as Mo Salah and then Sadio Mane ensured the Reds took all three points.

Liverpool capitalised on two momentary lapses to get back on track. They had lost two of their previous three games as the smallest amount of worry began to creep in amongst some fans.
And while yesterday’s win was another narrow one – their 14th one-goal victory of the Premier League campaign – it does not mean this Liverpool side is stuttering over the line.
In fact, these winning margins show a deeper determination and grit within the team. Rather than simply blowing teams away in 90 minutes, the Reds are proving they can grind it out when needed.

Like most Premier League winning teams, this is a vital habit to get into. You simply aren’t going to win every week by two or three goals. It is, then, a necessity to ensure you simply see games out.
Klopp’s men are led imperiously by Virgil van Dijk in this sense. With 14 one-goal wins already in the bag, it’s looking like Liverpool’s resolute defence and determination will see them lift their first PL trophy.
Already outdoing previous winners
Last season, Man City won the title just ahead of Liverpool. Pep Guardiola’s men recorded nine wins by just a single goal margin. The Reds, of course, have already surpassed that with plenty of games to play.
Interestingly, Liverpool drew seven games last term. Turning those draws, or just one of those draws, into a win, would have handed them the title. This year, the Reds have drawn just once.

Looking back even further, even the great Chelsea team of 05/06 under Jose Mourinho only won eight games by a one-goal margin. Given we look at Mourinho as being a defensive-minded coach who grinds out wins, maybe there is more than meets the eye to Jurgen Klopp.
One thing is for certain, though, and that’s Liverpool fans won’t care one bit about the winning margin. This season has been about getting the job done and the Reds look like doing it with aplomb.
