Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s form has dipped this season and he might be struggling from a lack of competition at Goodison Park.
Pickford was the undisputed first choice at Everton at the start of this season after playing a starring role in England’s World Cup surge to the semi-finals.
Understandably, Everton did not feel the need to sign another goalkeeper with Pickford hoping to pick up from his Player of the Year debut campaign at the Merseyside club.
But his form has dropped significantly this season and Maarten Stekelenburg is showing no signs of replacing him.
Last weekend, Pickford suffered yet another horror show as Everton slumped to a 3-2 loss against Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old gave away a penalty after failing to catch a non-threatening cross despite no one being around him, before cynically mauling Salomon Rondon to the ground.
He could have been sent off for the incident, although he did subsequently redeem himself by saving from Matt Ritchie.
But for Newcastle’s first two goals, the England international really should have done better. Rondon’s left-footed shot went under Pickford’s body before he flapped a Miguel Almiron drive into the path of Ayoze Perez.
Pickford’s form was patchy before January and Marco Silva should have addressed that by bringing in some competition. As a result, Everton are now suffering from Pickford having a lack of competition between the sticks.
