Leeds United chief executive, Angus Kinnear, has admitted he is hopeful of tying down Marcelo Bielsa to a new deal after the club’s promotion was sealed this past week.
Bielsa is set to be out of contract after guiding the Whites to promotion. It could well mean the next few weeks are a bit nervy for Leeds fans, who will be desperate to see their boss commit his future at Elland Road.
And Kinnear, who was speaking to Goal, is hopeful of agreeing to a new deal with Bielsa.
“Victor, Andrea and I will be straight in with Marcelo next week and talking about plans for next season.
“The challenge with Marcelo is his intentions are always a bit of a mystery because he’s always focused on the next game and you’re a brave man to try to distract him from the task of the next match.
“I think he’s fallen in love with the club. I think he’s committed to it.”
After missing out last season to Sheffield United and Norwich, Bielsa has managed to get Leeds immediately back in the mix and they were crowned champions yesterday as Brentford lost at Stoke.
Anything but a Bielsa new contract will be a disaster for Leeds fans. Kinnear, then, will be hoping that talks go as smooth as possible in the coming days.

If Marcelo Bielsa was to walk away now, it would be gut-wrenching for Leeds fans to take.
The work he’s done at Elland Road has been nothing short of remarkable and he deserves the chance to try and work his magic at the pinnacle of the English game.
It should be plain sailing, really. Kinnear seems confident so with a bit of luck, Leeds fans will have even more good news in the coming weeks.
