Ange Postecglou was really impressed by the performance of one of his returning players against Manchester City despite the defeat.
Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester City as Erling Haaland’s first-half goal proved to be the match’s decisive moment.
The defeat ends Spurs’ run of three games on the bounce and sees them drop into 13th place with Crystal Palace jumping above them.
But regardless of the result, Postecoglou noticed some positive signs with one of those being the display of one of his returning attacking players.

Ange Postecoglou really excited about Wilson Odobert’s impact
Ange Postecoglou is really excited about the impact Wilson Odobert could have on the remainder of the season following his first start since September.
Odobert returned from a hamstring injury against Manchester United as he came off the bench to produce a promising cameo.
The Spurs boss thought the 19-year-old was “great” against the champions and could be an “exciting player” for the team.
Speaking about Odobert’s first start since September, Postecoglou told the media: “Yeah, I thought he was great! It was important that he, Destiny and Brennan got some minutes tonight, again it’s one thing to get guys back from injury but we need to get them up to speed as quickly as we can.
“You can see Wilson hasn’t played for a while but you can also see the quality he has I thought he really grew into the game second half.
“I thought he was a big catalyst in the second half, he was running at the opposition – he’s an exciting player and if I can manage him through this period and get him to a decent level of fitness, I’m sure he’ll help us finish the season strong.”
Wilson Odobert’s promising performance against Manchester City
Postecoglou was right, Odobert was always trying to run at City’s defence on Wednesday evening as he competed two out of his four attempted dribbles.
Not many of Spurs’ wide men have shown a willingness to do so this season so the Frenchman also adds something a bit different to Postecoglou’s team.
| Stat | Total |
| Minutes | 67 |
| Touches | 36 |
| Accurate passes | 19/25 (76%) |
| Ground duels (won) | 4 (2) |
| Aerial duels (won) | 1 (0) |
| Dribble attempts (succ.) | 4 (2) |
Postecoglou was already excited about Odobert even before his display against City and now, the 59-year-old will be buoyed by the impact the teenager could have on the season.
