Ange Postecoglou has given a worrying update on defender Cristian Romero after his Tottenham team beat Everton today.

Romero was taken off by the Spurs boss and appeared to be in some pain with his leg. Indeed, Alasdair Gold has said that the defender appeared to have hurt his hamstring, with an ice pack on it in the dugout.

With Tottenham having a number of injury problems at the back including Micky van de Ven, the club can ill-afford another injury issue.

However, it seems there’ll be an anxious wait when it comes to the Romero injury, with Postecoglou confirming it was indeed a hamstring problem.

Speaking to Alasdair Gold, the Spurs boss confirmed the issue with Romero in what will be worrying news for Tottenham fans.

Postecoglou will be worried about Romero injury

This will be a bit of a nightmare situation for Spurs really. There’s still over a week until the January window opens and if they are without Romero for the next few games, or even longer, then it’s a disaster.

Like Spurs fans, Postecoglou will be nervously awaiting the next 24-48 hours and seeing what the medical team have to say about Romero.

Hamstring injuries can be a big problem, even if they’re small, and Tottenham will be desperate for this to be nothing to worry about.

Romero has been crucial for Spurs this season that they cannot afford to be without him. Especially so with Van de Ven still out as well.

Of course, it might give Eric Dier a chance for a bit. But Dier is said to be on his way and Postecoglou has shown the England man is down the pecking order by not picking him much this season.

If Romero is indeed out for a bit, then you can expect the club to really press for a new defender as soon as January comes.
