Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Pape Matar Sarr “will be involved” against Everton on Saturday.

The Spurs boss, speaking to football.london on Friday, said the 21-year-old midfielder would be featuring in some capacity against the Toffees.

However, Postecoglou acknowledged that Sarr had a “long trip back” from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Tottenham boss said the Senegal international need assessing after Friday’s training session, and wasn’t sure how involved he would be.

When asked about the latest Spurs team news, Postecoglou replied: “Everyone got through the other night okay so no issues.

“Obviously a short turnaround so the lads still recovering from that, so we haven’t really done too much training-wise but they all feel good.

“And obviously Pape Sarr’s back. He had a long trip back so we’ll assess him after training. Fair to say he’ll be involved but I’m not sure to what extent.”

Sarr featured three times for Senegal during the Africa Cup of Nations as they were eliminated in the last 16.

The Tottenham man played 120 minutes in the second-round meeting with Ivory Coast, which went to penalties after extra time.

Sarr, who registered one assist during the tournament, scored his nation’s second penalty in the shootout.

However, it wasn’t enough for Senegal as Ivory Coast triumphed 5-4 in the shootout, with Franck Kessie netting the winning penalty.

Tottenham injury issues easing

Sarr has been a big miss for Tottenham. The ‘unbelievabletalent has been a key member of the Spurs midfield alongside Yves Bissouma.

Although the Mali international is still at the Africa Cup of Nations, Sarr’s return is another welcome boost for Postecoglou.

The Tottenham injury crisis is also easing. Rodrigo Bentancur, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and James Maddison have all made their returns to the team of late.

Already Spurs are looking much better now their injury issues aren’t so bad. And when the likes of Bissouma and Son Heung-min return from international duty, it’ll be exciting to see how Tottenham fare.
