Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has described Son Heung-min as “probably the best attacking player” in the Premier League.
The Spurs boss, speaking to football.london after the Lilywhites’ win over Brighton, says the 31-year-old is a “world-class” talent and “brilliant” to have in their ranks.
Postecoglou named Son on the bench for Saturday’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following his recent return from the Asian Cup.
Son, who led South Korea in every minute of the competition which included two knockouts that went to extra-time, reported back at Hotspur Way on Thursday.

Postecoglou brought the 31-year-old on in the 62nd minute of the game, with Tottenham having just equalised through Pape Matar Sarr.
Son played a key role in Spurs’ very late winner as the hosts broke on the counter, making the most of Brighton committing so many players forward.
Richarlison slipped the ball through to the Tottenham veteran, who in turn crossed for Brennan Johnson to smash into the roof of the net from close range.
Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has has ‘always been right up there’
Postecoglou admitted that Son began on the bench due to worries about fatigue, saying the Spurs coaches wanted to protect him.
Alasdair Gold asked the Tottenham boss: “Is that what a captain is all about, still coming back from that kind of disappointment at the Asian Cup to deliver in big moments?”
Postecoglou replied: “Maybe the nation he plays for works against him but I think he’s a world-class player.
“You look at his record in the Premier League, the toughest league in the world, his goal contributions irrespective of how the team’s gone through the time he’s been here have always been right up there.
“Even this year, before he left, I think he was probably the best attacking player in the competition, just my opinion obviously.
“Certainly he’d be up there. He’s a world class player. I thought we did well to cover his absence.
“Richy obviously stepped up in terms of goal threat, and a few other players, but to have a world-class player for the run-in is brilliant for us.”
It’s great to have Son back at Tottenham as they bounced back after just one win in their last four in all competitions prior to Saturday.
The Spurs and South Korea captain is such an inspirational player, eager to give his all for club and country, and both are very lucky to have him.
