Ange Postecoglou says £90k-a-week Tottenham player has been working hard

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has praised Richarlison for his efforts in Spurs training and on the pitch.

The Tottenham boss, speaking ahead of Spurs’ FA Cup third-round meeting with Burnley, says the 26-year-old has been working really hard for the team.

Richarlison has been in great form for Spurs after coming back from surgery on a long-term pelvic injury late last year.

The Brazil international has registered five goals in his last five games for Tottenham, including a brace against Newcastle on 10 December.

Richarlison’s efforts have helped Spurs surge back into top-four contention after a woeful run of form prior to the Newcastle game.

‘More confident in himself’

Tottenham now get their FA Cup campaign under way as they host the Clarets in north London on Friday night.

Postecoglou, speaking to the Spurs media team at his pre-match presser in a video published on YouTube, reiterated how much better Richarlison is feeling and playing.

“I think I have said consistently he is free of injury, he feels good physically and he’s able to perform at the levels he wants to,” said the Tottenham boss.

“He couldn’t do that at the start of the year. Even though he was playing for us he was restricted in his movements. I think it is no magic cure, he got treatment and he feels good now.

“And he’s scoring goals which makes him feel more confident in himself, but aside from that he’s working really hard for the team at the moment which has been really important for us.

“He’s going well and hopefully more to come.”

Richarlison back to his best for Tottenham Hotspur

It’s great to see Richarlison back to his best. After all the criticism he received, it just goes to show that you don’t always know what’s going on with a player behind the scenes.

It’ll be exciting to see how the £90,000-a-week ace (Spotrac) continues to fare for Tottenham now he’s finally free of the issue that was holding him back earlier this season.
