Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has given his verdict on Timo Werner’s performance against Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Werner made his debut for Tottenham following his loan move last week.
So, what has Ange Postecoglou said about Timo Werner? Let’s take a look.
Timo Werner makes Tottenham Hotspur debut vs Manchester United
Well, Tottenham Hotspur took on Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou included Timo Werner in the starting lineup. It was the former Chelsea forward’s first game for Spurs since his loan move from RB Leipzig last month. One talkSPORT presenter thinks that it was a “brave” decision from the striker.
The 27-year-old Germany international forward was deployed on the left of a front-three in a 4-3-3 formation.

Werner was a handful for the United defence with his pace and running. He provided the assist for Rodrigo Bentancur’s goal. However, the forward had three good chances to score.
The German took five shots but none of them was on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 91.4%, took 46 touches, and put in one cross.
Ange Postecoglou gives his verdict
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has given his take on how Timo Werner played against Manchester United.
The former Celtic manager has said that the forward was “outstanding” and has disclosed that he had trained just twice with the Tottenham squad before making his debut.
Postecoglou said about Werner on beIN SPORTS: “I thought he was outstanding. He has only had two training sessions with us and it wasn’t a difficult call because we didn’t have many options to be fair.
“It’s not ideal but he’s a really good guy, he’s come in with a great attitude and wants to contribute and help this football team. I thought there were moments today you could see how exciting he will be once we get him up to speed.”
I think that it was a very encouraging performance from Werner. He looked energetic, willing to work hard and run, and was up for it. The early signs are very promising in regard to the forward being a success at Tottenham.
