Tottenham Hotspur boast a great team at present, with so many top talents at various points of their careers.

For instance, Spurs have the likes of Pape Matar Sarr, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie who are in their early twenties and their whole careers ahead of them.

Tottenham then have players like James Maddison and Yves Bissouma who are in or around their primes, and then you have more experienced stars like Son Heung-min.

The South Korea international has been one of the Premier League’s most underrated players over the past decade and he continues to impress for club and country.

Son has 15 goals and nine assists from 28 league games this season, while his overall tally for Spurs reads 401 appearances, 160 goals and 83 assists.

And following on from Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris leaving Tottenham, Son was made captain, a role he is carrying out very well indeed.

The 31-year-old could potentially make a bit more history if he manages to get an assist for Spurs away at Newcastle on Saturday.

Son would join a select group of Premier League icons who managed three seasons or more in the competition with 10 or more goals and 10 or more assists to their name.

Wayne Rooney (5), Mohamed Salah (4), Frank Lampard (4), Eric Cantona (4) and Didier Drogba (3) are currently in that exclusive list.

And Ange Postecoglou, speaking ahead of the Newcastle match, couldn’t sing Son’s praises highly enough.

What has Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou said about Son Heung-min?

“He’s a superstar, mate,” Postecoglou told football.london. “I think he is world-class.

“To do it as long as he has in the Premier League – and this year he has missed a fair few games with the Asia Cup, which has happened a couple of times in his journey here…

“Travelling to the other side of the world representing his national team, never missing a beat there either, to keep producing those numbers I would put him right up there.

“I think there is still more to come from him. I don’t see him waning in terms of his abilities or his physical capacities and he can keep crunching out those numbers.

“Look, I have no doubt he will go down as one of the greats of the Premier League when he’s done.”

Son really is Mr Tottenham Hotspur, having done so much to Spurs over the years and becoming very much fabric of the north London club.

His achievements at Tottenham are worthy of a statue outside the stadium, so let’s hope something along those lines is in the pipeline in the coming years.

And to think he cost just £22million as well. He has been worth every single penny and has repaid that fee many, many times over.
