Speaking at his press conference today, Ange Postecoglou has now given his verdict on Manchester United’s comeback against Aston Villa.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager was seemingly keeping a close eye on two of his rivals for a European spot this season.

And after watching the game, Postecoglou wasn’t necessarily surprised that Man United were able to overcome Villa’s two nil lead.

Unai Emery’s first half joy would have quickly turned to dread as he watched his side succumb to Erik ten Hag’s team.

And speaking via Hayter’s TV, Postecoglou said that manager’s can only prepare their sides to a certain extent, and games can move in any direction.

Postecoglou said: “Depends on what you view as predictable or unpredictable.

“I’ve always said that every game is its own unique piece of living, breathing thing. Nobody can tell me how a game of football is going to go.

“I don’t know if you watched last night but if you did, you probably would have written a different story to what you wrote at full-time to half-time. That’s the beauty of football.

“As much as we as managers try to control the whole thing, the reality is that every game is a life and we just have to prepare your team to deal with whatever might happen in the 90 minutes that transpire.”

Of course, the 3-2 comeback was largely inspired by Alejandro Garnacho.

Although Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund played their part, it was the raw enthusiasm of the 19-year-old that proved the catalyst.

And speaking after the win, one pundit simply couldn’t believe the levels Garnacho produced in the game.

It certainly will be an odd match for Villa to look back on, one they’ll probably try to quickly forget.

Emery’s team produced a weak second half display, one that isn’t recognisable in the context of their season.

And perhaps Burnley may now be the unfortunate beneficiary of Villa’s improvement on Saturday.

Moreover, whilst Postecoglou will be happy to have the opportunity to close the gap on Villa tomorrow, he probably won’t want Man United returning to the top four question.

Of course, ten Hag’s team will still need to make huge improvements to their performances and consistency in order to do so.
