Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luca Gunter has been spotted in first-team training this week.

Ange Postecoglou has a rare opportunity to do some extra work on the training pitches at Hotspur Way during the mid-season break.

It has probably come at an ideal time for the Aussie boss as he looks to bed in new signings Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin.

But the break will also give Postecoglou an opportunity to take a closer look at some of the youngsters coming through the ranks at Spurs.

The likes of Alfie Dorrington and Jamie Donley have been training with the first team on a regular basis this term, with the latter making a few appearances from the bench.

And goalkeeper Luca Gunter is the latest Spurs youngster to get an opportunity to impress the former Celtic boss.

In a video on Spurs Play, Gunter can be spotted being put through his paces by Tottenham’s goalkeeping coaches.

The 18-year-old was involved in a training drill, alongside the likes of Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster.

Gunter is yet to make his debut for Spurs but has made three appearances for the Under-21s this term.

The goalkeeper is also a regular for England’s U19s side, having made five appearances since making his debut back in September.

While it feels unlikely that Gunter will get an opportunity in the first-team anytime soon, it will only benefit him to be training alongside the likes of Vicario and Foster.

Postecoglou has put plenty of faith in younger players this season and shown he will give them opportunities providing they are ready.

You only have to look at Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie, who have both played key roles in the Aussie’s side this term.

Donley also made his debut away at Manchester City in December and has since made a further two appearances in all competitions.
