With the last international break of the season finally behind us, Tottenham Hotspur can get back to action in pursuit of that Premier League top-four spot.

Spurs have had a long wait to try and make things right following a disappointing heavy defeat just before domestic football gave way to international action.

Ange Postecoglou’s charges will be taking on Luton Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a 3pm kickoff on Saturday.

Although Spurs will be favourites on paper, the 3-0 defeat to Fulham last time out shows they’ve got work to do and will not take a battling Hatters outfit lightly.

The international break can always be a source of concern for top clubs when it comes to their players’ fitness, but Tottenham were quite lucky on this front.

Spurs had no fresh injury concerns, and the two-week break has also helped those who were recovering from issues to make progress on their rehabilitation.

What has Ange Postecoglou said about Micky van de Ven fitness?

Micky van de Ven missed Tottenham’s last game, but speaking to football.london, Postecoglou confirmed that he is now fit and raring to go against Luton.

“First thing is all the internationals got through unscathed,” said the Spurs boss.

“Most of them got meaningful game time too which is important so they’ve all come back all good.

“Micky’s the one who missed the last game, he’s trained the last couple of days and is available.”

Van de Ven has proven to be an “unbelievable” signing for Tottenham. His quality, size and speed have helped turn a previously rickety Spurs back line into a tough unit.

The 22-year-old has also helped bring the best out of Cristian Romero. The Argentine sometimes got frustrated last season, but with a defender of his level next to him, he’s now more composed.

Having Van de Ven back is a major boost for Spurs, who will be eager to climb back into the top four as Aston Villa’s form wobbles.
