Tottenham Hotspur will likely look to bolster their ranks in the January transfer window after a difficult end to the calendar year.
Spurs were nigh-on unplayable in Ange Postecoglou‘s first few months, and they soon took top spot in the Premier League table.
However, a spate of injuries and suspensions have played havoc on Tottenham’s squad, which in turn has led to some poor results.
The silver lining is that the January transfer window is just days away from opening, so Spurs have the chance to strengthen their squad.

A new central defender is set to feature highly on Postecoglou’s wishlist. Both first-choice centre-backs are currently on the sidelines.
Now, according to The Telegraph, the Tottenham manager has apparently asked the Spurs board for reinforcements in two other positions.
Postecoglou has apparently told Spurs that, as well as his top priority, which is a new centre-back, he believes his squad is in need of an additional winger and a box-to-box midfielder.
Tottenham on the right track but there’s a long way to go – TBR View
Tottenham have found themselves light on the left flank, with both Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic on the sidelines. The latter has also been linked with a move away from N17.
Likewise, Pierre-Emile Hojberg’s future at Tottenham is uncertain, and Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are set to play at the Africa Cup of Nations at the start of the year.
On the plus side, Richarlison’s form has improved massively since undergoing surgery a few weeks ago, while Son Heung-min continues to do well for the most part.
Tottenham have already gone above and beyond expectations under Postecoglou, but there’s still a lot of work to do with regards to squad strength and depth.
Spurs are on the right track, and though it may take several transfer windows to bring in top signings and clear out the deadwood, it looks as though they will get there.
