Ange Postecoglou could now start ‘unbelievable’ 21-year-old for Spurs against Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur will look to get back to winning ways on Saturday as Ange Postecoglou looks to pick from “the healthiest squad” he’s had for a while.

Spurs host Brighton & Hove Albion in Saturday’s 3pm Premier League kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham twice led against Everton last time out but twice they were pegged back, with the hosts’ equaliser coming deep into stoppage time.

However, Postecoglou now has a squad that is nearly fully fit, with the added benefit of their three recent international absentees all being back at N17.

Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are back from the Africa Cup of Nations, while Son Heung-min is back from the Asian Cup.

Sarr actually came back last week, but he didn’t start against the Toffees, instead coming on for the last 26 minutes of the match.

Now, Postecoglou is very likely to start the 21-year-old midfielder for Tottenham against Brighton, and he’ll no doubt make a huge difference.

Sarr is very much the glue for Spurs, and boasts many top attributes such as work-rate, defensive awareness, ball carrying and off-the-ball work.

Already so crucial at just 21 years of age, it’ll be exciting to see how the ‘unbelievable‘ talent continues to develop in the coming years.

Tottenham were congratulated for signing Pape Matar Sarr

Sarr isn’t quite complete just yet – for instance, his passing and crossing isn’t quite perfect – but not being complete is to be expected at his age.

He’s already head and shoulders above most professionals in the game, and if he continues on the same path, he’ll no doubt be one of the world’s best by 24-25.

Tottenham did very well to sign him ahead of strong competition. Indeed, back in 2022, Jack Pitt-Brooke revealed that other clubs actually contacted Spurs to congratulate them on signing Sarr.

“I know for a fact that when Tottenham signed him they had other heads of recruitment at other clubs ringing them up saying ‘wow, you did well to get Sarr, he’s someone we wanted for a while’,” he told the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel.
