Andy Robertson has sent a message to his former Liverpool teammate Xherdan Shaqiri after facing him at Euro 2024 yesterday.

Scotland and Andy Robertson were aiming to bounce back after a heavy 5-1 defeat to Germany last week.

The Liverpool star put in an improved display at left-back and helped the Scots pick up a 1-1 draw against Switzerland on Wednesday evening.

It leaves Scotland needing a win against Dominik Szoboszlai’s Hungary in the final group game to be in with a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages.

Scotland were unfortunate not to pick up all three points last night and Robertson faced a familiar face in Xherdan Shaqiri

It was Shaqiri’s stunning effort from range which ultimately denied the Scots a crucial three points and Robertson has sent his former teammate a message on social media.

Shaqiri’s career after Liverpool exit

Shaqiri left Liverpool back in the summer of 2021 as he made the switch to Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

After a short spell in France, the 32-year-old has been playing his football in the MLS with Chicago since February 2022.

The Swiss star has a habit of popping up with memorable goals at major international tournaments and proved to be a thorn in the side for Scotland last night.

After his effort against the Scots, Shaqiri has now netted in each of the last three World Cups and European Championships.
