Andy Robertson has praised the contribution of Jordan Henderson after his goal and assist helped Liverpool beat Wolves 2-1 at Molineux last night.
As per the Reds’ official website, Robertson said Henderson could well have been Liverpool’s best player this season.
He said: “Hendo this season has been different class. He’s been one of, if not our best player this season. Sometimes over the years Hendo’s not got the credit that he deserves. But when you play, you train with him and see the way he acts off the field, it’s an absolute pleasure [for him] to be my captain.
“He’s getting the recognition that his performances deserve. Today just epitomises Jordan Henderson – the way he went about his business, the way he scored the goal and his assist. His all-round play the past couple of months has been second to none and he’s really driving us forward to the position we are in now.”
TBR’s View – Fabinho’s return can liberate Henderson to score even more
Henderson has flitted between holding midfield and a box-to-box role in recent seasons and anchored the midfield last night.
But Fabinho continued his comeback from injury and will expect to reprise his holding role when he’s back to full fitness – he was sensational before his injury.
That will free Henderson to bomb on more and while he has never been a prolific goalscorer, he should get more opportunities to burst forward.
With the confidence he’s playing with, there should be chances for him to get on the scoresheet a few more times.
